We name "It" by Marina

What is IT? The reality that don't pass on the TV, newspapers or media in general / The faces behind the statistics and the History / The reality you do not meet outside Africa

Why should we give IT to public? The public are persons like us and like we met in Africa. Bring persons to persons is a way to create a better world, because we give to them the opportunity to get to know each other, showing that their differences are not so big and even if they are big they are not reason enough to promote a detachment. With our travel to Africa we gave them the opportunity to know us also and show that we are not just white and rich people, tourists from Europe. We made sure that some negative stereotypes were destroyed by our behavior and attitude. Now, it is the time to show in Europe that Africans are not just black and poor people, victims from Africa history. Now it is time to bring another point of view to our colleagues, neighbors, to the strangers on the streets. It is time to break down these old stereotypes that keep surviving over the years.
We will not bring the people, because we cannot, but we will bring their histories, their conversations, what they taught us, from what and how do they live.
I believe that the fact that we help to interconnect cultures creates empathy and space for understanding ourselves while citizens of a country, a continent, a world.
Bring this message, in this way, is our biggest weapon to fight against inequalities and start to change and open minds.

What does public gain from you and what do you gain from public? First, the gain knowledge. Knowledge that is not in the books and knowledge that nobody else can give them. Nobody can give them this knowledge because what we saw is unique: facts can be related in the same way, but experiences are always different from person to person. However, this question produces another questions: Why it is important explain politics to the European kids? It is important because, actually, they don't need to know political concepts or political history from Africa continent, but they SHOULD know what are the inequalities present between their countries and African countries and WHY the inequalities are there. Why should we explain African tradition or religion for an old lady? Because most of them have conservative minds that needs to be confronted with other conservative realities, and there is a need to explain that traditions are different and all of them are important. Why should we talk with a "normal standard person" with a job, house, car and kids? To explain them how lucky they are to have the life that they have, and show them how lucky they are to born in a rich part of the world.
We don't want to explain nothing in particular because we don't own the truth, we also don't want make judgments or attribute guilt, what we want is show them the other angle of the world.

Morning Assembly experience by Eszter

Morning assembly:

The main idea of morning assebly is that usually in this time all the teams in Tvind could make time for a common lesson and gain new knowledge together. Somethimes we have special occasions, when one of the team can not participate in the morning assembly or we have some other common activities. Normaly the morning assembly is from 9.15 to 10.30 ,but sometimes we need less or more time than this.

Normal week plan for morning assemblys:

  • Monday: Science
  • Tuesday: Freestilye presentation about what is interesting for the presenter
Common Common meeting about ownership areas and other common issues
  • Wednesday: Politics ( Big Issues/ Worlds News)
  • Thursday: Singing practise for Winter Concert learn new songs in different topics
Eg: work, peace, christmas, fight for rights etc..
  • Friday: School management (from the morning until 5 in the afternoon)

Morning assembly is a good way of starting a day. We had morning assembly about:
-PTG
-Dayschool
-Villas one from Wang Jing another from Romas and Bjarne
-Recycleing
-Use of our Common Hall Kitchen and Dinning Hall Kitchen
(instructions from Marcel and Marianne)
-TCE
Conclusion:

We learn different things in each morning, and with this we practise how to be flexibly, how to be resbonisbly person and pay attentiuon to different issues in our world from recycleing to wars and protests.

School management experience by Eszter

School management:

What is it actually. This is one of the best way of basic maintenance of our school. Each Schoolmangement first we are going to the Common Hall and the School Management leader distribute the task between DNSers, teachers, villas and PTG students.

Some example of the tasks:

  • Potato picking in our garden
  • Clean all the windows all around Tvind
  • Weeding in Common areas
  • Fixing the toilets
  • Fixing other small things
  • Deep clean and cook in the big kitchen
  • Shopping for the weekend
  • Deep cleaning in Common Hall and Kitchen
  • Cutting grass

The newest thing is that we involve PTG and Villas in our School Mangement. This is useful for the student ,beacuse they can make connections with DNSrs and do something good for our school. School Mangement is from 9.15 to 17.00 for DNSers, this in enough time to fix everything, shop etc.

Owership areas and common meeting experience by Eszter

Common Common meeting and Ownership areas 15 hours:

Every second week on Tuesday we have a Common Common meeting about different issues and we are discussing about our ownership areas and their development. Each Thursday evening we have ownership area meeting where we discuss and make new plans for the rest of the week.

Unit Coordination group

2012 team joined to the Ownership areas and started to work in small groups together with other teams. In our group the first step was to understand who are we working with. Unit coordination group supposed to organize all kind of events for the different heart chambers and DNS.
We decided our goal for this meeting is to organize meeting with teachers who are teaching here, and make a big calendar. The big calendar is done by Romas who already had the same idea,so we can put all the morning assemblys, meetings, presentations etc. Into this calendar.

Meetings:

  • Wang Jing -Villas
  • Anne Hoas-PTG
  • Bjarne-Romas-Villas
  • Annica- Dayschool

Introduction for the new and old teams about Heart Chambers and their work.
How to deal/work together with different students.
What kind of programs can we make for them etc.

New ideas:

·         Thirsday activity for Villas:

-In creativity center, some DNSer not so many
-Two kind of activity( eg.:origami and movie)
-Some DNSer who are known in Villas and 2-3 who are not
-In this way day the studenst starts to have contact with other DNSers,
but not like a bunch of new people are coming to their life

·         Tuesday cafe rota each team

Bake Cakes? Let's do it.

Cake makeing and Birthday party..:)

Let’s start in the beginning.:) I was living in Per’s house for three mounth before the Africa travel. For me was natural I would like to move back there and continue living there etc. That house is home and Per is an awsome person. Here comes the interesting part in the last week he turned 48 and is always a big thing to have a birthday. His parents came and we DNSers are also started to think about something nice for him. In this week we had some other birthday (seems like everyone like to born in this part of the year) so I already made my first birthday cake in my life. In this time I had more help to organize and bake the cake, but I’m not sure it was easier. First of all we had 3 people than 4-5 and in the end 10 people , a nice house . I can not prove everyone was doing something but mostly they did. We started to get the things at 11 in the night and actually started to do something around half past 11. Nice music, crazy people from all kind of countries with different attitude and way of helping, watcing, tasteing, mixing etc.We put a lot of love, milk, flour, eggs, sugar, marzipan into this cake. Our mood was quite good in the whole precess even when we realized some part of the cake is burned,no problem we will solve evrything. Hours are passed people started to dissapear..until just the three strong Hungarian and one Lithuanian stayed there. We finished, cleaned around 2 am and went to sleep.

Next day the magic day Per’s birthday. We were excited from the morning and over tired. At 4 we had a pencake party for Per with Villas and DNS . In the same time we had hundred of things to do,organize and not forget. I must admit without some special people help the cake wouldn’t be done for the evening party. Adriana special thank you for this amaizing DNSer..:) I had to do so many things and she managed to cover our awsome cake with marzipan. In the evening all people gathered in Per’s place with presents and the magic blue cake. Everything went well,he was really happy. My team gave a teddy bear and 3 different present card. Present card first one with a movie night, second with cinema and the last one is eating out somewhere with DNS2011. We were listening music, talking stupid things, danicing and laughing like crazy. The whole event had good mood, nice people and the perfect cake.

For conclusion I have to say:

1. If you have more people to make a cake you have more problem and much more fun!
2. If you take all the new-good challanges someone will come and help you to make them possible!

Happy B-Day, PER!
